Project 01: Station Meir, Antwerp, Belgium

With Alice Delavenne
and Karim Deenmahomed
Station Meir is a metro station In Meir, Antwerp that resides on a popular shopping street in the city. In efforts to revitalize the station, a plan was made to execute a mural to liven the atmosphere of the station.

Ideation Stage:During this stage, my colleagues and I came up with multiple moodboards onto how to make the mural inside the station relevant to the street and the nature of Antwerp.

Possible Ideations

Technical Process

Because the nature of this project heavily depended on the panel location as the station was very sizeable, my teammate and I measured each panel and any possible obstructions for the most accurate result. We then created a map with all of the measurements of each panel inside of the station.

Direction 01: The Antwerp 6

Integrating fabric/stitching pattern
into graphics

Direction 02: Pleats as Fashion

Using the blend tool as a way to communicate pleats as a connection
to fashion

Direction 03: The city of Antwerp

Using bitmapping tool on photoshop to implement stitching pattern onto images of Antwerp

Finalization

In light of the client’s request, the third direction was pursued and executed

Overall, the project came out to be a big success and I have learned to overcome many challenges that we have encountered along the way including:

- Time restraint

- Heavy file size

- Outdated version of photoshop

- Contradicting client requests

- A system to keep track of which panel belonged where

- Distributing the work load amongst team members

Project 02: Arriva HWGO

With Bram Roelens

HWGO is a public transportation company based in the Hoekshe Waard and Goeree Overflakkee region of the Netherlands. As HWGO began to prepare for the release of their new Arriva solar busses, they have requested for a new graphic identity to help differentiate themselves from competitors.

Ideation Stage:During this stage I began to think about the nature of the region and how to visually identify Hoekshe Waard and Goeree Overflakkee. The nature of these two regions are more rural and green energy based as Hoekshe Waardhones in on farming and Goeree Overflakke is more coastal in nature.

Characteristics of Hokeshe Waard and Goeree Overflakke:

- Environmentally Friendly
- Down to earth
- Community Oriented
- Traditional

Limitations:

The VDL CITEA LLE-120 and VDL NGC LE-135 models had to pertain to the R-Net branding identity (a public transportation company that oversees the Randstad megalopolis)

The busses also had to eminate a little bit of the R-Net Identity

Benchmarks:Jeju Island, South Korea

Schleswig-Holstein, Germany

Kyushu Sanko, Japan

Mexico City, Mexico

Refinements:Taking a few of these concepts, I began
to iterate them into a more applicable demonstration using pre-made templates

Client Decision and refinements:In light of the client’s favor, we have decided to pursue the last two directions.

Half circles were made to create logos of components that represented the region: butterfly, tulips, and windmills.
